Newbie seeks capture help

Hi All..
Playing with edius 5.. When I capture video from my HDV there is no image on the preview screen.. Seems to capture OK.. but The preview screen is greyed out.. I can control the camera from edius play pause and record.. but no preview..? Any help//
Also after I have capture video it appears as a sequence in the folder bin.. but how do I get it into the timeline.. Stupid questions probably.. but bear with me I will learn..

2. capture hardware, yes/no if yes, which one
3. Operating system and service pack
4. graphics card model number

Where are you capturing the clips to? Can you check that location and try to bring it into the Bin. To get a clip to the Timeline simply drag and drop. As Anton suggested, we may need to know more of your settings to investigate farther.
