If the task at hand is to simply edit the video from a home made dvd, then just copy the vobs onto your drive and import them directly...AS VOBS!!! crazy I know....but it works.

If the DVD has encryption, try DVD shrink (free and tiny), and once it has created vobs for you, just import those.

How was the DVD recorded? Some standalone dvd recorder files cannot be opened by EDIUS. Try converting to another format with lets say ProCoder.

What DVD Decrypter does is basically move out the audio/video files from the vob container. It does not re-encode anything, so the error has to be caused by the resulting video file.

Of the resultant mpeg files only the first one will load into Edius. The other three get an error message saying the file failed to open. Not sure what to do now? The audio loads fine.

OK, I thought in the stream processing window the tick was all that was needed. I see that you highlighted the video and clicked demux and then repeated that for the audio. I tried that and it worked. Thank you.

    Demuxing DVDs with DVD Decrypter

Here's a short video of this process. I hope it helps others so they won't have to ask this question again in the future and just search the forum for the answer.

    1) Download DVD Decrypter (google it, it's discontinued and freeware)
    2) Watch the video (it's flash, open it with a browser).

    Under mode: IFO
Stream Processing ticked Enable stream processing.
    ticked demux

    picked a output folder

I only get the mpeg movie clips

I also would like to demux a DVD I made along time ago in order to edit in Edius some of the content. When I use DVD Decrypter I do not get the audio files. I only get the mpeg video files. Any clue what I might be doing wrong in DVD Decryper?

Download DVD Decrypter and use IFO mode to demux (enable each stream).

You will then have an m2v and a corresponding audio file (.ac3 or .wav, depending on the compression).

You can then re-encode just the m2v with ProCoder or ProCoder Express and author with the original audio file. Burn the DVD.
