? about displaying date data

Help anyone....

I have client who asked if it was possible to "decide later" if he wants to have "date and time shot" data displayed on his finished video. I know I can choose to burn the date and time of the recording at the time its recorded on camcorder. But can I choose not to do that, and get the "time and Date shot data to display on the video later in Edius?

If it's included in the data stream, you can choose to have it displayed in Application Settings, Customize, Overlay, Source information to show.

If you are using DV source, you could overlay the date and time using DVdate, which is a free program. If your client wants the information displayed, simply pre-process the DV AVI file and load the output into Edius.

Stopwatch

Is there a plugin that will let me overlay a stopwatch on the video? My application is a track race. I will probably run from 0 seconds all the way until they finish which is about 8 minutes. Just displaying time of day won't quite do what we want, though it would be better than nothing.

you can make yourself a counter with Edius

1. place a dummy clip around 30 min point of empty timeline

2. set in at start of timeline and out just before the clip at 30min position

3. export to file with timecode displayed

4. now you can use this clip anywhere, simply crop all but counter section with layout tool and position and size to your liking

I've just tried this as I was also trying to edit a stopwatch sequence into a project - but please could you explain what I am doing wrong as after exporting to file I can still only see the timecode when I set the application settings to display source timecode, when I don't it disappears. In other words it's a burnt in timecode on that clip alone.

I've just realised that this is no use to me anyway, because it shows the time in 24 frames to the second rather than tenths of a second, if that makes sense..I'm actually looking to get a rally stage time of 7.45.7secs but the closest that I can get is 7.45.XXframes.

Is there any way that anyone can think to do this please without going to the trouble of having to download, install and learn how to use after effects in no time?
