  • Has the Edius 4.6 + Storm2 + Canon DV Cam Issue been solved??

Just wondering if this issue has been resolved yet? I didn't see any positive posts on this, but was relieved to find out it wasn't my setup, but a common problem with those trying to use a Canon DV camcorder (in my case an Optura 20) inside of Edius 4.61 through the Storm's DV input.

If I hit stop on the cam itself I can get control back of Edius, but only momentarily. Really bizarre that it would work in previous iterations, but get broken in 4.6.

Are there any disadvantages (besides physical hookup location) to using OHCI capture instead of the DV Storm. Are you losing anything in the process, slower feedback/response time, etc.?

I DO notice there is a slight delay in the audio playing when you first start playback or capture. It is NOT out of sync, it's just that there is no audio at all for a second or two. I don't remember if this happened with the Storm DV input or not.

I doubt so if this is being resolved as it most likely a Canon issue (if you are referring to the MV series).
I bought a Sony and gave the Canon away :), problem solved.

There should not be any difference capturing OHCI

As I said, it is the Optura series. It's definitely not a Canon issue (not directly anyway) as it worked fine in version 1 to 3.6 for me personally, and others have reported up to version 4.5 (or was it even 4.6?) and was just recently "broken" in 4.6 or 4.61.

Is there any hope TGV will be looking into this and providing a fix? Or is all programming support for Edius 4.X now dead?

        Thanks,
        Tim

Thanks, Pat. Although is there perhaps an issue if you are using one of the Firewire ports for external HD drive access, especially if it as at the same time? I think I've found another issue with using OHCI, but am trying to work it out. Just wish the Storm card would work as it always had. :(

Hard to dispute, Optura and MV series are having deck control problems with Edius, something fishy here ...........

When I get home this weekend, I will try and remember to break out an Optura and see if it works with 5.0

Any luck with 5.0, Pat? Just curious.

Pat, did you ever get a chance to try it out?

I've been using Scenalyzer, but it sure would be nice to be able to capture right inside Edius once again.

Just saw this thread. I use a Canon HV30 for capture, and often lose the deck control with Edius 5. Have to switch things off and on, and dance round in an anti-clockwise direction before I can get it to capture again, but it always works eventually.

Unfortunately, with the Optura Series, no amount of dancing (even on a full moon) will help. :) Sounds like Edius 4.61 does not like any Canon, but especially Optura.

The frustrating thing is it was working fine as recently as 4.5 or 4.6.

Anyone heard anything on this one?

I know development is dead on this version (more dead than this post I am sure, heh-heh), which is a real shame they broke it with the final release.

So, I was just wondering if anyone has heard of or done anything that would allow the use of my Optura with the Storm in 4.61 again?

                        Thanks!
