  • Canopus HQ with transparency OUTSIDE Edius???

    Hi,

Is there a way of generating video files in Canopus HQ format WITH TRANSPARENCY outside of EDIUS? For example from After Effects.
Matrox provides the M.Key, a dongle you can buy that let's you render matrox file formats in workstations without a Matrox board installed.

    Thanks

    Yes, If there are

You go to the menu composite "make movie" of After Effects... then in the settings of movie make composite output, choose RGB + ALPHA and choose the codec "Canopus HQ" and then exported it and with it the clip will be a 32-bits. success

Make sure to use "Unmatted" not "Premultiplied".

        Stormdave,

Are you sure you can generate Canopus HQ files in a machine WITHOUT Edius and/or any Canopus hardware installed? My After Effects dont't even list this format as an option.

Generation of Canopus HQ files (ie. encoding), requires one of the following products in the system:

          - EDIUS
          - ProCoder
          - Pegasus
          - HDSTORM

KH is right, the OP didn't make it clear...

Installing EDIUS trial should allow Canopus HQ export for 30 days, not sure if it will still work after 30 days, haven't tried it.

It's a good codec, I use it all the time for 32bit stuff.

              Canopus hq codec

I have an Edius system PLUS Procoder on my Box. AE was installed after Edius. Where can I find/how can I get the CANOPUS HQ CODEC installed in my After Effects codecs? It doesn't appear to be there now and I DESPERATELY NEED IT!!!!!!

I've crashed the Edius more time than I have fingers and toes tryng to get these animations to play.

When you choose Video for Windows, hit Format options. You will see Canopus HQ from the list. Pick that. Make sure you choose "Millions of Colors+" as well as "Premultiplied".
