  • Stupid Question

Why do I need a output card to do HD? Like the Storm or NX for HDV? Can't I capture HD (via Firewire) then use my ADCDV card and edit in DV mode until my projects done then switch to HD mode to render? Or will that not work?

We've done it that way for a long while. The only caution is with your titles and any clips adjusted with the layout tool. Once you change to HD project settings, they retain the SD settings, at least in 4.6. We kick it back to HD after the edit and capture back to tape the HD tape deck or export with HQ.

I've done HD projects in SD on my Sony broadcast monitor...however when I bought the Bravia to preview HD footage, I was amazed at how much I was missing during editing. You see alot of things you couldn't see when doing HD footage in SD.

I recommend editing HD on an LCD monitor....or an HDTV.
