Blue Ray Bit Rate

Okay so I really am the Blue Ray nube here….please excuses my ignorance.

I have an hour long film 1440 x 1080 50i what bit rate should I be using when encoding?
(I’m also still getting to grips with V5 new exporter)

Am I right in saying the maximum video bit rate for BD is 40Mbit/s – should I be looking to encode that high?
