Many theories have developed over the brightness of the new dongle discussed previously here.
In your case it must be aliens.
My dongle is unplugged until the demo runs out.

I'm also using the additional light as a tanning booth.Last edited by Rusty; 10-08-2008, 11:20 PM.Rusty Rogers | Films

Can't you guys plug it in the rear USB port? Also Randy there must be a driver issue. Download the latest from the Alladin site.
I have my dongles (PC3 & EDIUS 5) connected to my Mac Pro keyboard (the slim one). No problems whatsoever.
Unless you hate the light because you're using a laptop...that's another issue ;)Comment

That light does not bother me at all, I can not see it in the back of my laptop or when it is pluget in to my PC.
Sorry bout this. this has nothing to do with the topic on this thred.

Johannes, you could get a short USB extender cable like this one to reduce the risk of damaging the dongle.
Another option would be to use the License Manager to transfer the license from the dongle to your hard drive, completely eliminating the need for the dongle. Obviously if your hard drive crashes you wind up with no license and a useless piece of plastic, and need to buy a new dongle.Comment

It cant be a driver issue this comes up before windows even starts, in the early bios screen. The machine hangs on "initializing USB ports" I have it plugged into a hub with my ProCoder Dongle. It may be that its drawing too much power from the PCI bus I dont know. Either way its no big deal I just have to remove it before powering up, its just a little annoying.Randy

I would investigate the BIOS options to see if there are any settings related to legacy USB device support -- if so, try toggling the option. I dealt with a system once that wouldn't get past the POST when a particular USB hub was pkugged in, and disabling legacy USB device support fixed the problem.Comment

Unplug it. Then plug it into the system directly (not the hub). Then download/install the latest Aladdin drivers and/or run Windows Update.
See how it goes..Comment

if you are using laptop, and the dongle is bother you. I suggest that you transfer license to the hard drive then ghost the hard disk, anything happens to your hard disk, just restore it ...Asus X99-A/USB3.1 - Samsung EVO870 1TB - Win10Pro - Edius 7.53Comment

I also use a few Marx Cripto-box dongles, the are full metal jacket, on my key chain for 6+ years now with daily use of plugin' in & out, so far never any hickups, driver wise also incredible stable.
A bus could drive over it and it would still work, but your laptop would be gone though :)
Would even spend money to exchange the Edius / Procoder plastic thing to this, so I'll have a peaceful mind...............Comment
