  • New Thread: Using Video from a HDD camcorder

Has anyone tried using video from a Sony - Handycam Camcorder Model: DCR-SR85 or similar type? If so, what is the process for transcoding so the video can be edited in Edius, etc. What are the pitfalls, what should I be looking for?
    Thanks

Edius can edit the .vob files if you copy them to your HD, but editing performance will not be outstanding. I'll bet you can convert them to Canopus HQ in the Bin for proper performance.

Sony saves its files as proper MPEG files .mpg that stand alone and play without metafiles - u can edit the mpeg fine without having to recode them - just dont expect the smart rendering to work tho - it is crude as best
