Best way to export in 14:9?

I've edited a project in 16:9 but need to export it in 14:9. Is the best way to do this to export the entire project as a lossless avi file then open a new 16:9 project, import the file put it in the timeline, change the layout so that the picture is within the 14:9 safe area and then export to tape?
