Work around with Apple/Adobe products

thanks Dave and all others.... Image sequence seems to be the best shot in terms of cross platform swapping of files and all others. I wanna try to avoid any problems if its possible.... PNG image sequence seems to be my first option. Does it work well with all alpha and other options that many use? I have heard you have to create new sequence for chroma keying and all others... Sorry, Ia m scared to death with working in totally new environment.....

Image sequence should be fine. There is no color shift. Use 32bit PNG.

Only downside I would say would be that you might have issues if you want to do lower field or upper field stuff with image sequences. But when I use image sequences its always progressive, never tried interlaced.

I know how you feel , When I have to switch from Avid to Adobe 6.5 then to PPRO1 and Edius . I found Edius to be a ver quicky and eazy switch over You will fined your way around very quickly and enjoy the speed . You will miss features that you had and you will fine some things easier to do in Edius. In the end you will have a much better understanding for both worlds and if you have problems the solution you will be able to figture out eazier.
I am intending to get a Intel MAc and run FCP plus Edius Like Dave and a few others, so I have the best of both worlds . Good luck and strenght to you. :)

I don't see any color shifts in FCP....probably because it's an Apple product.

Also haven't seen any shifts in Premiere Pro CS3 under the Mac environment either. I rarely use Premiere but I've done the tests.

I think you're talking about the gamma issue...that's still there with QuickTime.

Correct me if I am wrong Dave, but I thought the color shift had been reported in other NLE's also...

I also do alot of work on a Mac (dual boot of course with Vista and EDIUS on the machine).

I export to a PNG .mov file (to save space, plus these clips are lossless @ 100%).

However, there is a slight green shift with QuickTime files so I recommend that you convert the .mov's to .avi's first (Canopus Lossless?) with maybe the Windows version of After Effects. Then those files will be usable.

Once GV fixes the QuickTime issue, it would be much easier to just import the .mov's in EDIUS and get to work. But for now that's the work around I figured out.

I am new to the forum as well as Canopus products. I have been an apple user and experienced editor for years, yet I have to use Canopus Edius4.x at work... which I do not have any experience with.
what would be the most effective work around with Apple/Adobe products?
I use AE, Motion, Shake for composite and motion graphics. I also use Cinema 4D for simple 3d work. How you people integrate with these programs and Edius? what is your pipeline from Shake and other 3d applications? Thank you!
