  • Anyone using ATI X1950 with 512MBddr3 and getting GPUfx in Edius? 5

Because of no pixel shader 3.0 support, it's time to update my graphics card (an ATI X700 with 512mb). I've found an X1950 Pro 512MB GDDR3 PCI-E for less than £50 which seems quite reasonable. Is anyone using this card with Edius version 5 and if so are GPU fx working well?

ATI’s 1950 series GPU is a fully DirectX 9 compliant part that supports Shader Model 3.0

    it should be ok

This should work looking at the specs - be carefull though as some of the 3rd party cards like HiS Radeon take up 2 slots as the fan is so big!

Need to make sure its a proper ATI branded item - as the picture

I am looking at the HD3850 512MB myself at 98.00 from SCAN

Yes this is actually what I was looking at. The size however is a concern - I do have the slot next to the current card empty at the moment but I would prefer a single width card as I do not want to put a source of heat right next to my raid controller.

          Hi Cath

Don't know if this might be of interest, Ebuyer have an HD3850 512MB for £60 - I'm now very tempted by this model....
