    Thanks for your reply.
    I map the audio channels like the guide below. If it's wrong, can you help me to set the correct project for audio 5.1 please!

    I set my project as DVCPROHD and map audio channels as mentioned in the post of Plekkie (http://ediusforum.grassvalley.com/fo...hlight=channel). So i can import and edit an AC3 file (5.1) in the timeline with the correct tracks. But when i play, i only hear the either channels 1 and 2, 3 and 4, or 5 and 6. And when i print to AC3 file (5.1), i just get an incorrect tracks file. Can you show me how to solve these problem?

    Maybe full in/out support came with v4.00 Broadcast, but in v4 Pro exporting was only possible as .ac3 stereo.

    It was mentioned as a new feature when it was...new...

    (full in/out support came with v4.00)

    We don't talk it up too much, because it's more of a compatibility level of support - EDIUS certainly is NOT your one-stop AC-3 5.1 audio factory.

    Why is the possibility to import, open and render Dolby Digital 5 or 6 channel audio in V5 not mentioned as a new feature? If I remember well, people have complained in earlier threads that Edius (Pro) did not support multichannel .ac3 files. So now it does.

    Sony Vegas Pro seems to be very proud about being able to encode Dolby Digital multichannel audio, and yes, you are able to do surround panning, but you cannot open or even import .ac3 files.

    This feature is not a must for me, but certainly nice to have, so thank you GV!

    Yes, that's correct.

    Thanks, with a little trial and error I got the mapping right, and the exported file has 6 channels, each with the correct left, center, right, etc, audio. Is it also correct that during playback of the timeline I can only hear either channels 1 and 2, 3 and 4, or 5 and 6?

    You need to change your Channel Map (in the Project or Sequence Settings) - the default does not route the channels past 1 & 2.

    started a topic Dolby Digital 5 or 5.1 channel

    Dolby Digital 5 or 5.1 channel

    I have installed Edius 5 trial version and found that the exporter (print to file) contains presets for 5 and 5.1 channel Dolby Digital under "Audio". When trying to export 6 monaural channels however, I do get a 6 channel ac3 audio file, but channels 1,3,5 and 2,4,6 are mixed, so in fact I get stereo sound from channel 1 and 2, with channels 3 - 6 empty.

    When importing a Dolby Digital 6 channel file, the individual channels are mapped correctly to 6 audio tracks in the timeline, i.e. according to information in another thread from Kenneally (http://ediusforum.grassvalley.com/fo...olby+digital):
    A1 Mono Channel 1 -> Front Left
    A2 Mono Channel 2 -> Front Right
    A3 Mono Channel 3 -> Centre
    A4 Mono Channel 4 -> LFE
    A5 Mono Channel 5 -> Surround Left
    A6 Mono Channel 6 -> Surround Right
    My project was set as DVCPRO HD, as mentioned in the same post by Kenneally.

    So now I am left with two questions:
    Is it possible to export Dolby Digital 5 or 6 channel audio from Edius 5 timeline?
    If yes, what am I doing wrong?
    If no, why are the presets included in the Edius 5 exporter.

    And last but not least: if it is possible to export 5 or 6 channel Dolby Digital audio, why is this not mentioned as new feature of Edius 5?
Working...
