  • Canopus DV, HQ and also a 30p question?

New to Edius 4.6 and asking a couple of newbie questions that I hope haven't been asked too often before.

One, I noticed in setting up Edius for DV editing only, it defaults to the internal Canopus HQ codec. Is this my best bet for performance and quality or should I change it to the Canopus DV codec instead? Note, for now I'm only editing footage from a Panasonic DVX100b and staying DV, no HD or HDV yet!

Secondly, I often shoot 30p with the DVX100 for the Web or Flash encoding. Does anyone know how to set up Edius for 30p DV capture and on the preset, so I can work in 30p directly from the timeline.

Adding to this quesion, to capture 30p would I need to capture directly from the DVX100 into Edius or would my Sony DSR-20 DVCAM work as well (again footage was shot 30p with the DVX100).

Any help greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

    I have a DVX 100 shooting 30p with Edius.
Use the HQ codec. The quality is excellent and edit is easy.
In the Project settings you will see 720x480 29.97 progressive.
I would use your firewire output of Camera into computer.
