  • Posetive experiences with EDIUS 5 upgrade worth it?

Reading many posts I see there are some teething issues with E5, most seem to be with legacy projects not being able to be continued with the upgrade...
OR system incompatibilities and questions on much more systems related

    BUT

Does Anyone have posetive experiences with the upgrade on an NXexpress workststion with WIN XP 32BIT os?

In other words what do you like and are you happy with the move to E5?

I just installed it on an XP machine and installation went perfectly.

I like the keyframes in the layout tool.

I like the fact that all of the "Broadcast" file formats are now included.

I also like the improvements in Quick Titler.

These three things are worth $250 to me.

the new audio levels controls and the freeze frame function are useful sometimes...

In my opinion if you take in account the extra plugins (and nothing else) it is worth to upgrade!

Besides little problem with the installation of E5,
like previous posts, It's worth much more than the upgrade price. (those plugins). I continue using E5 for couple older project without any problem - just replace some older effects in the project.

I like it alot, definately worth the upgrade price, layout tool is cool but I try to load a large image into Edius and I get black, so you still need Imaginate for large image when using HD, I wonder what is the largest image one can load? other than the installation problem I had and for some reason it won't closed properly on my system, everything is great, you should get it.

I like it a lot, the GPU transitions are just great.
I never used Explode but there are some in the GPU set that I will certainly use.
Had one problem with the GPU transitions Edius occasionally locked up, BUT after downloading the latest drivers for the graphics card no problems
I had all the plug ins already so that was not a great plus BUT if you do have the plugins you will either have to reload them all or follow the instructions below

The improvements in Layout and 3D pip are great but seem to have caused a slight hit in RT
One thing to watch is your previous presets can change, my HD 1440x1080 HQ had changed to Canopus Lossless codec and a new project was slower than an old but once corrected just great

I will be upgrading........Just wanted to see some posetives for E5

Well thats it to be honest - we seem to post when we are up against a problem or a glitch! but not so much when we are happy with an app - unless we are asked.........

I just needed to get some posetive feedback as to the worth.........I realise for those who don't have the prodad plugins this is a NO BRAINER, but I have them already and so just needed to here some + points for the early upgrade

I will finish my latest project and then upgrade me thinks!!!

Thanks for the feedback so far;-)

Cath, as I stated, I am happy for the $250 spent.

But, this is not the extreme makeover that has been talked about here.

When I first started v5, I checked the version info because it seemed exactly like v4.6. Nothing really has changed with the interface or most features, just some improvements here and there.

From what I see it does seem to be faster and more responsive espcially with Mpeg video which is kinda big for me. I have a quad core which I think is utilized more in V5.0 that and the plug-ins (that I was going to buy some of anyway) is worth the $250. I would like to get a look at DVDMF 7 when it comes out though.

I don't completely understand this upgrade pricing. They indicate it's on sale for $249 until December 31, 2008.

Does that mean that it will be higher after December 31, or does it mean you can't upgrade after December 31, but rather have to pay full price?
