8 gigs of RAM is overkill for EDIUS alone.

However if you want to have Photoshop and After Effects running at the same time that you have EDIUS open and you do a lot of heavy work, then 8GB is a good spot. Maybe 16GB in the future :)

so... no prbs with 64bit Vista? I would guess that the extra ram would allow a higher buffer setting too.
A friend of mine just bought a Dell for his home office.
This might even be a cool starting Edius box.
I like the fact that it comes with 8gigs of ram.
    Any comments?

Just to be clear here... you're talking about the VST that were NOT released with Edius 5, right?
Mine install in E5, but do not register through eSellerate.

Rusty, I have never had a problem with the NewblueFX at all, on Vista 64bit.

My only complaint about Vista x64 is the lack of support from eSellerate to properly work with NewBlueFX VST registration. Very frustrating, I can't wait until it's fixed!

BTW... NewBlueFX/eSellerate work 100% with XP.

Steve is correct, it is a 32 bit app.

It is not a true 64bit application, it is a 32bit application that can run on Vista 64bit.

Is Edius 5 really 64 bit application ? Looking task manager processes displays [EDIUS.exe *32] like other 32bit applications on list. Without *32 application is true 64bit mode.
