    Me neither.

If I'm not moving between machines, my preferred method is:
    1) Establish internal USB port (via cable if motherboard has sufficient headers or via add-in card).
    2) Stick dongle(s) on internal USB port(s).

We just did it here in Kobe so yes it is quite possible.

But I have to agree, if I had only one dongle for each I am not sure I would risk it.

Can anybody please test this on the 4.5v:
Start edius 4.5 with the dongle inserted and then take it out.
Can Edius continue working properly without the dongle inserted?

it sure does, so does Pro Coder, once running the dongles can be removed and the apps keep going until you close them, then they need the dongle again to re open.

I'm fairly sure the software EULA states that you may only run the software on any one system at any given time (with the dongle providing the portability). (30-day trial mode exepted)

So uh, running on more than one machine with a dongle-swap is breaching the EULA..

Is it safe to insert or take the dongle out when the system is ON ?
                  I won't take this risk.

...and a little birdy said that at some random time, it's going to want the dongle, especially for important operations.
