We're very aware that to some, this latest release would not offer the vast array of new feature additions to the core application, that previous releases did. This is why we made sure to offer compelling upgrade pricing, and a high value third-party software bundle, to help in that regard.

EDIUS will continue to evolve, like any software package. If you don't want to jump on board, that's fine, but a likely v6 is still a long way off.

My intention was not to offend anyone.
I apologize since now for any inconvenience my words have caused.

    However, I expected much more.
I will still keep on waiting. No problems.
I don't question if the upgrade worths or not: money is not my matter.
    I simply feel rather crestfallen.

    Cheers.

Constructive criticism is always welcome, when it engages positive, active discussion.

Anything to the contrary, is likely to quickly end the life of that thread, with repeated offences putting the poster at risk of a temporary ban.

    Thankfully, nobody has done this...yet.

Every thread that I have read from you has "delusion" in it. It is offensive and not very constructive, so I hope your vocabulary increases. While there are a lot of things not in Edius that I would like to see, the upgrade is well worth the price. If you don't think so, then don't buy it.

Version 5 will have a "special" 3D within Layout and full Alpha support. I totally understand that GV calls today's Edius as version 5, but it is not exactly it. I have to say that it will be good, really good, but you have to wait a little. Probably till Christmas, then I will say: "Yes! This is version 5!"
Please do not cry for now- our "magic" friends in Japan are working hard to make your dreams come true, let them finish the good thing, they started.

I do have to agree with you on that one, had I didn't understand some one saying that.

I agree we do need to know the facts but simply saying 'delusion' on threads about Edius 5 is at best stating an opinion - which appears to be negative!

No one is really negative, people are just pointing out the facts, if people don't do this how will they know what to fix.

Whilst there do seem to be some issues with Edius 5, is it really necessary to be so negative?

The problem with the 3D Picture in Picture is still that same though, only 1 track can play in realtime here compared to 3 with 4.60.

I wonder how many tracks of normal DV I could stack up now.

WOW.....so it was not just me...

Guys I have installed the retail version now and it's much better. That version 5 trial download must be abit sick. Read my previous reply to this thread on top here..

That trail version was maxing out my QUAD here but this retail version is much better.

    Just to add to this,

On my laptop, Sony Vaio AR51 2ghz core duo 4gb ram 320gb sata: Open a 1440x1080 50i project and a single Ex1 clip (mp4) with same parameters as the project. I can load colour balance, soft focus, white balance, anti flicker, YUV curve and also have the clip at 50% speed, Wavearts Trackplug and Final plug on the audio track, still plays realtime from a standing start within the clip.

Exact same settings on my NX system, if I apply soft focus and 50% speed, any additional filter causes it to choke.

Extra clues: Laptop is Vista home Supermicro is XP sp2

    What gives?

Looks like I'll have to go back to 4.61 for now - bummer, cos I like the extra keyframe stuff, just can't get the thing to perform smoothly.

Paul I thought the same thing, I had a mate over today who had a look and we loaded 5 to 6 layers and it ran like a pig, I double checked all application settings tried a few new ones and still the same, I still think 4.61 was a little better, more stable as well, Anton sent me a Vitascene TPI file that fixed up the problem when you would open and close Version 5 a couple of times, and it just wouldn't open again without going into task manager and ending the process, But today I noticed Prodad has an update out for Vitascene for Edius 5, I downloaded it and installed it thinking thay might have fixed the problem but guess what, NO GO, had to put the TPI file back in the plugins folder and over ride the new one. This sought of stuff I thought they would have made sure was working before releasing version 5 with the extra plugins, I hope thay fix all these little problems soon though.

    Cheers
