The addition of keyfames in the video layout tool (vlt) is one of the main reasons I upgraded to EDIUS 5 (BTW I love the added plug ins for the upgrade price).
Another handy time saver I found with the vlt is when I click on the video part of a clip, the vlt appears in the info pallet the same as a filter. After making changes to the vlt and closing, the vlt can be dragged onto a clip or number of clips the same way filters can.
