I used to have Highpoint 1820A card and it only fast enough to let me capture a little over half of my 1tb raid and then I get error saying that drive is too slow
the latest high point controllers are perfect! I have used a few to make RAID5 and stripe volumes with 8-10 Sata drives and they were very fast!!! Better than any SCSI setup I have seen lately....

With your current system, can you capture to all of your raid? if yes then you are fine, if no then you might need faster raid card, I used to have Highpoint 1820A card and it only fast enough to let me capture a little over half of my 1tb raid and then I get error saying that drive is too slow, I switch to 3ware 9550sx and now I can capture all of my raid. I don't think you need SCSI.
