Lost all my work in Edius 5

I upgrade to Edius 5 and was secure that I could go back again after my trial test time. I continue working with my project and make them nearly finished. I realize that Edius was not what I expected and for me not worth it. So I decided to go back to Edius 4,61 but for my surprised I got the message 'Can ‘t open the project file. 0x8007000d corrupt data'
If I should know that, I would never try Edius 5 until know that my project was finish. 20 hour of procect time is lost for me. That is not god for Thomsons reputation, no warning about this crash of earlier project when you uppgrade to Edius 5. So I hope that somebody can give me some advice who I can save my earlier project my customer is expecting me to deliver in a short time.

Forward-compatibility (the ability for an older version to properly read data from a newer version) is a rarity, especially in media applications. For example, Premiere 5.1 can't read Premiere 6.5 projects.

In order to continue work on your project in EDIUS 4.61, you will need to go back to a project file that was not saved in EDIUS 5.

Now that you are stuck here, you may be able to open an older backup file, within your project folder. (just maybe, but probably not... after 20 hrs.)

Unless you can get a full version soon, you'll need to tough it out on this one with v5 demo. Maybe export an EDL to open in v4.61.

And never do a serious jobb in a tryal prog, set it up and try, if you are gona do something like this make a backup before you go there.
even when i do uppgrade i always backup before i do.

I hope you will get this working, like Rusty says Exporting to EDL mide do it.

I know all of your advice. But I still thinking this is Thomson fault, they should have some kind of warning about this disadvantage, so everybody know it when they install Edius 5, there is no return to elderly version of Edius.

I agree, there should be a splash screen when opening an earlier file type, warning of the irreversible nature of the function. It is of course the general rule, finish your project before upgrading -

I cannot believe I am reading this. It is a basic of using any new software that you back up projects - dont Blame Thomson - guys who do daft things like this need to look in the mirror.

In fact, if you are running a business and aren't just editing for the fun of it, you have an obligation to back up your work. There are many potential causes of data loss, what happened in this case is just one example -- what if your hard drive crashed or you deleted a clip that you incorrectly didn't think you needed?

Guys don't be rediculos! The trial verson mean's you TRY it first! Then decide to work on not. I admire GrassValley_BH to try to explaine the issue to a user. Yes we all and often ask dumb question, but as Digital_Dave said:
