    Is a Skulltrail Mobo suitable for a dual quad core installation for Edius 4.xx or 5?
    Desktop: Intel Vernonia-R Server Board, dual Xeon 5420 2.5Ghz (8 cores), Vista Ultimate 64 Bit, 12 GB RAM, NVidia 9800Gt 512MB graphics, 320 GB system drive, 2x1TB Seagate editing drives (not in RAID), 30 inch HP monitor.

    Laptop: Toshiba Portege R700 2.66 Ghz cpu, 4GB RAM, 500GB hard drive

    It should be. I think they are just unlocked Quad Core Xeons anyway.
    This platform probably will not be one of the test candidates due to the extreme cost of the system. Unless somebody gets a wild hair.
    For the price, it is way overkill considering EDITING in Edius is designed to use dual core only. Encoding times will be way better, but you have to decide the cost per performance factor for yourself.

      works fine here with 2x ATI 4870 and HDStorm.

      awesome system.
      Canopus-stuff: EZDV,Raptor,Storm,NX,all EDIUS-versions, all Procoder versions, ADVC-series, Imaginate 1+2, and so on...... ;-)
