I paid that for my NX a couple of years ago. I can't see that much again for the ability to do HDMI and analog HD. I am doing that now on my other machine for $318...thats what I paid for the other card and Edius works with the files that I capture from that.
I do not doubt that the product is solid and stable. They have all been.

I dont question the quality but I cant justify buying Edius again. I already have it and about $500-$700 of that $1,300 price tag is for something I already have. I'll have to wait for the spark.

You already upgraded to EDIUS 5?

I'll be upgrading to HDStorm+ for my second machine soon I think. $1,300 is a good price I believe, it does almost everything the NX does except no hardware SD mpeg2 encoding (I never use this on the NX).

If you are upgrading to EDIUS5, that's $250 right there. So you are actually spending $1050 on the HDStorm+ since it comes with EDIUS5.

No but then I let my Edius 4.6 got to waste dont I? Im mean the price is'nt staggering but I need the bay and $1,600 is just too much if the board had componet in without the bay id be on board. No pun intended.

It's actually $300 off if you are a Storm owner...so

                  HDStorm+
$1535 - $300 - $250 = $985. You still get to keep your old storm card and EDIUS 4.x so you can just build a new machine or whatever.

If you don't need component/s-video right now then don't get the bay.

                  HDStorm
                  $1,250 - $300 - $250 = $700

It's $1299 upgrading from previous hardware, and you get EDIUS 5 with it.

                          That's about $550 in savings.

Quick question, does the upgrade have to be from Grass Valley directly or can it be from the distributor to get the $300 off?

You can get it elsewhere. Safe Harbor just sent me an email & checked their site (www.sharbor.com). HDSTORM Plus upgrade is $1269.99. HDSTORM with upgrade is $989.99. http://www.sharbor.com/vendors/GRV.html
