  • New error message - 4.61

I am not able to add any transition between 2 clips in 1VA. Instead it puts the transition in the lower part of one of the clips (looks like title transition style). If I try to add the default using the timeline button, an error message displays in the botton left of the timeline:
"The data necessary to complete this operation is not yet available".
This has happened before then corrects itself somehow. I never noticed the message before.
    Any ideas?

Make sure you have extra frames that are not used at each end of the clips that you are applying the transition. IF you apply two clips that are not edited on the end, the action you described will happen.

      Thanks for your reply.
There is more than enough frames on both clips to take the transition.

The action you described is almost always caused by one of two things.
        1. There is no "meat" at the end of the clips. If the clip has a little triangle at the bottom (which means it is an end) it will not allow the transition there unless "extend clips" is unchecked in the settings.

        2. There is a slight gap between the two clips. Zoom in to one frame view and make sure the clips touch.

There was sufficient "meat" on each clip. I know there was no gap I checked before posting this problem. This problem occurs seemingly at random.

If I remember well I have had the same problem. Try changing the "insert mode" to "overwrite mode", or checking/unchecking the "sync" mode, found under the same button. Hope it works.

              Thanks Plekkie, further tests show
when sync mode is "ON" transition dragged to clips goes on the transparency area.
when sync mode is "OFF" transition dragged to clips goes in correctely.
However... using the timeline transition button the transition goes in correctly ONLY on 1VA.
Glad I'm getting E5 in the next few days.
