    So,

If I have an nx-express with the daughter board for component output, I would need yet another pci-e slot for this hdmi output. Bringing my total (With my SLI Graphics cards) to 5 pci-e slots.

    That's a lot. That's more than I have...

Would there be a need for both hdmi and component output? or Or would it be a one or the other kinda thing.

Why do you need HDMI when you have component with the NX? HDSpark only does HDMI out and does not do HDMI in. I preview HD video on my Bravia from the NX. Looks perfect.

        1. To avoid digital - analog - digital conversion

        2. To output progressive material

          1. You're just previewing...I have an Intensity Pro as well and have it connected via HDMI to the Bravia. Not much difference between the testing of color bars between component HD and HDMI.

          2. Afaik you can do progressive over component...just that the NX doesn't have a progressive project setting, they are all over interlaced.

At least the HDSTORM supports progressive output. So hopefully the SPARK will do the same.

And that's the same with the Spark card if I'm not mistaken. A major drawback, would love to be able to preview 1080p 24 natively one day

Me too. My Bravia supports 24p and I will be doing alot of 24p stuff in the near future for theatrical release.

Best solution in this case is to take advantage of the upgrade pricing to HDSTORM Plus and everything in a single PCIe card and 5.25-inch bay. As an added plus compared to your NX, you'll gain HD and SD Component input.

However, you do lose the OHCI-compliant Firewire port, and the ability to capture uncompressed/lossless/HQ on the analog (at least until an update is made)...

If you don't need it right away, I'd hold off. Then again, the HDSTORM upgrade doesn't require you to return your old NX, so it's a great opportunity to put together a second editing system.

                    Brandon

Can you have the HD Storm together with an OHCI firewire card on the Same MOBO?

                    regards

Sure, in fact you have to if you need Firewire.

So, will there be an Edius UPGRADE package with the HDSPARK? What about a EDIUS and Storm UPGRADE with the HDSPARK? Any upgrade pricing?
                        Cheers,
                        Stuart.

No upgrade pricing on HDSPARK at this time.
