I have a long project (65 minutes) still under work in HD. Is it too bold to install E5 and hope to be able to finish this ongoing project?

Peter, I have imported huge HD projects with 120 min and up to 500 GB --> it works fine, don’t worry.
Loading projects in generell takes a bit longer in EDIUS 5.

I would suggest that you save the project with a new name if you go into E5 as once saved in E5 it cannot be opened in E4.6 should you need to go back to that version. Alternately you could open it from the backup file created when it was last opened in V4.6

Sound advice for opening any project in an upgraded version. Though I save the project under a new name in the old project and then open the newly named project in the upgraded version.

I usually have multiple backups of the projects but also on different drives and I sometimes zip them up.

So working on a copy is a smart idea. Either way if this project is REALLY important I would recommend that you finish it in 4.61. Remember that EDIUS 5 is a trial and it hasn't shipped yet afaik. What if the trial runs up accidently and you will be stuck with an non openable project (5 projects don't open in 4.x) where you probably did alot of work in.
