  • Edius 5 wont accept the serial number (retail) during installation

    Hi there everybody.

I just won a full retail version of Edius 5 at IBC. Now it wont accept the Serial numer during the installation process (WinXP Pro), always stating "Wrong Serial number, Please enter real serial number."
I entered the numer as stated on the DVD envelope (######-XXXXX#####XXXXXX) = X=Character, #=Number

Does anybody have an idea what might be wrong here?

Hi, tried with and w/out dashes - all the same - it won´t work. And thanks, Tony, i read the linked thread before I was posting.
But all stated measured turned out not to work.
And I will definitely format my harddisk and reinstall Windows on a machine that perfectly runs Avid MC, Vegas and a lot of other software and is in production use daily.
I just wonder if someone has a hint. If not, I will immediately resell the software.
What good can it be, if it doesn´t even install?

Hi spaceager, don't sell yet, Edius is a great bit of software, wait and see for yourself, theres bound to be a fix or a way round it.
          Hang in there :)

Remember - we never use the letter 'o' in our serial numbers, only the numeral '0'

Hey guys, thanks for encouraging me. But it´s getting even more weird...
I though i could try the installation with the trial cd i grabbed before i won the retail and then just plug in the dongle to switch to a full retail version. And the installation would not even accept the trial code - neither the retail installation nor the trial cd...
              Strange...

Oh yeah, and it was surely not the "zero versus O thing...!". I surely checked this and luckily the number on the envelope boasts crossed 0 characters - to make sure...

                Errant files?

Look in C:\Windows\system32 for pavedius.dll files, if you find any (might be 4b, 5b variants) just rename them, put an X at the beginning of the file name then try the install and serial number.

                  Wow!
I had the same problem with the trial version of Edius. When I followed this instruction and renamed those .dll files with an x, the serial number was accepted! Great! Thanks so much.
