  • EDIUS 5 New features..??????

Hi all. EDIUS 5 Trial - loaded great, looks great, works great. Except that in the Effects window, nearly everything is just as it was in EDIUS 4.xx. Where are all the new plugins? ProDAD (VitaScene + Mercalli Expert); NewBlueFX (Motion Effects + Art Effects+ Film Effects); iZotope (Audio Effects, Mastering); and Corel (DVD MovieFactory). Also the SD and HD stock footage from Artbeats.
Be darned if I can find any of them - but then I WAS told I need new glasses.
    Gratefully,
    Alan

The third party stuff can't be included with the trial, as per licensing restrictions.

Look under GPU fx . EDius contains native canopus/Gv Gou effects.
          These use the GPU.
Now there is one circumstance where you will not see them.
The Gpu installer first runs a test on your GPU while Edius is installing.
If your GPU does not meet the minimum specs for the GPU effect to run it wil not be installed and you will not see them. :)

GPU effects can be applied to titles.
Sometime it is usefull to go in to setting set target or reverse when using it on titles.

to use them go to transitions and look for GPU

That explains that. I have it on an older system. I stand corrected. It just was not worth uninstalling and reinstalling on one of the two main systems.
Steve, if possible could you post a screen shot of the panel open, just curious what is in there. The way it described the gpu was it would not work, it just didn't say it would not install. Thanks.

                Great. Thanks for posting that.
So, did I misunderstand the alpha portion with Vitascene and NewBluefx?
Are these now able to apply to titles. That was how I understood it, but may have gotten that wrong as well.

New Blue effects are not GPU. They are CPU.

Vitascene is GPU. The current alpha limitation with titles and Vitascene is still present in 5.

Didn't know I opened a can of worms - but thanks to all for that valuable info on the "special stuff"! My temp install is on an old computer - incapable of using the GPU, therefore it didn't load. IS there a list of Graphics boards that will work with v.5 and all the goodies?
                      Cheers,

I that information will be available soon.
512 mb and shader....... ( have to check the shader info)

But I can tell you that the GPU effects work on my notebook. My GPU has 512mb on board ( not shared).
I think we users can compile a list very easy as we have lots of different systems. :)

Thanks, Steve. I'll be more than interested in that list, since I have an nVidia FX1500 w/256 on my main system - and supposedly, via your comments - that won't work.
Have a great rest of the "busy" day.

Well it will run on 256 but for HD 512 is recommended :)

                            Req.
Graphics card with at least 256 MB of graphics memory (512 MB recommended) with support for PixelShader Model 3.0 or later(i.e. DX9-based)

Quadro FX 3450 (256MB) works really well here.
