There is still a need for ProCoder 3 - elementary stream export, with mastering quality for starters.

      Hi KH,

      Correct me if I'm wrong.

      1) there is no Master Quality from Edius 5 time line.

      2) Speed increase mentioned in other post is due to No Master Quality outputs from Edius 5 timeline.

      3) We are still left with "slow" Master Q render performance when using Procoder 3 inside Edius 5 (still not Multi Core optimised as yet)

      4) Will Procoder be overhauled to perform "faster" (multicore optimized) with the same High Output Quality we have come to love ?

can you give an example of what you mean by slow?

I just tested a 30 min export to mastering quality m2v+ac3 and it took 14 minutes

test project is standard def 16:9 with DVCAM footage

however, using the built in mpeg exporter to program stream DVD with ac3 and highest quality took only 6 minutes, so 2.5 times faster than ProCoder

              Hi Anton,

By "Slow" I mean not optimized for 100% usage of all core's available, like Procoder now does not use all core when using the Mpeg2 Master Q settings.

When using Generic Mpeg it does (but no 2 pass with Master Q)

Hope this is more clear, sorry, thanks.

no, that was just an export test direct from timeline

I know that with segment encoding you can get all cores to fire up providing you got several exports to do, in my case hardly ever

are you sure there is a quality difference between mastering quality of PC3 and VBR direct export with highest quality setting? I can't see any other than the fact that ProCoder export looks marginally softer

I think the term "mastering quality" is over rated, however I admit it sounds impressive

I use Tmpeg 4 Xpress for all my work with great results

Does anyone know why with the new exporter in Edius 5 the exported file crashes Premiere Pro CS3 and Adobe Ultra? Any workaround?

Print to DVD does not use ProCoder 3. Furthermore, it will be greyed out if your project settings do not match a recognised DVD-compatible format. (e.g. SD 59.94i/50i timeline)
