Bad start of the year for me.

Just got hit by the "playback stop" bug on my X3360 system and no clip how ever short plays through till the end.

Even after rendering a clip it still has random stops.

Using Edius 5.01 with all third party update's, no actual filters applied on the clips, just plain HQ fine HDV footage.

Old projects exhibit this problem, and even newly captured footage in a new project "stops playing"

Lucky I still have 4.61 on a back up partition, hope they fix this soon ...........

        Yes, 1440x1080 @ 50i

        is audio mixer closed?

Yes, Closed, Rarely used, I normally do adjusting by rubberband and incase the entire mix becomes to heavy I drop the master by 1 or 2 dB

how much ram have you given the playback buffer

        Maximum of 512 Mb / 600 frames.

Canopus HQ Fine, Quality 4, Max Size 40

        Direct3D9 with frame update

This problem is now on my secondary system with no video hardware, only OHCI.

Will try to install 5.01 with all the same patches on my Main system tonight and see if the same issue arises.

Ha Ha, I spoke too soon, just got 2 failed to playback notices with same error code as gianvito - never had this before. I had 6 sequences open, I've closed all but the one I'm on, and I'll see what happens.

P.S I just re loaded my Izotope plugs about an hour ago - but not being used so far...mmm, I wonder?

Same problem again on my main system, I think I will try PaulTV's advise and get rid of all the VST plugins.

Can I still leave ProDAD ?

I'm running all the Prodad stuff, I threw out the Izotope stuff weeks ago, and everything has been great. Today I needed to do some noise reduction and my noise 2 from Sony Vegas has a problem, so I re installed the Izotope stuff.
After 5 mins I got the playback stop error - never had it before - then a full crash.

I dumped Izotope, and its been fine since, so far - and I'm thrashing my system mercilessly.

Same here, not thrashing & bashing that is, but I'm also up and running again on my main system.

Full new install of XP Pro SP3 (was about time again), Edius 5.01 + all ProDAD stuff + update's and NO Izotope = running smooth.

Hope they fix this VST problem soon, Izotope has nice usable features that many will like / use ............

Shortly going back to work (no sleep this night) and will try a UN-Install of Izotope in my secondary system, see if that helps :)

Why not try REDUCING the amount of buffer you allocate to EDIUS 5.01? I am using only 128MB buffer. I found during my initial testing - allocating too large a buffer causes problems to Mercalli (playback is jumpy, it stops / starts randomly) - so I cut it down ... and have no problems now. It is a bug in EDIUS 5.01 - that's for sure.

A bit lost for words now.

Got rid of all the Bonus extra's only Edius 5.01 and Ulead, no improvement.

When the buffers were lowered down to 128 I got a little better.

just to complete this, I've been editing madly for 30 hours or so since my crash and playback stop error - removing the Izotope's HAS returned me to a very stable platform once again.

128 on my buffer as well.

                          No errors since.

That's why I maintain both EDIUS 5.01 and 4.61 - in case I get one of those devils may care problems :-(. So far, EDIUS 5.01 has been behaving itself very well on my system.
