  • Some HDStorm upgrade questions

The HDStorm card looks to be what I was hoping for so I will be in the market for an upgrade (in the UK). My questions are:
    (1) what evidence will be required that I own a Storm card? I purchased mine a long time ago and am not sure if I can find the original documentation.
    (2) Will the upgrade come with an all new E5 installation disk and dongle?
In other words, will I have to go through the agony of piling on upgrade onto upgrade from E3 thru E4 to E5 - or will it be a nice new clean install from scratch with a new dongle?

General question about Imaginate. It has been suggested in earlier threads that Imaginate type work can now be accomplished via the revised layout tool. It has also been said that Imaginate will work with E5. Given that E4 must be uninstalled before installing E5 and that ProCoderExpress is incompatible with E5, what is the official GV/Canopus answer on this please?
    DVC laptop: W870CU i7; 17.3" 1920x1080; 2x 1TB 7200rpm SATA notebook drives; Edius 8.5WG; Windows 7.

    1. If you registered your product on the Canopus website, that is your proof.
    2. It is all new. Being that it is new hardware and software, I would do a completely new install from the OS up.
    3. Don't know about Imaginate. I never used it within Edius. All of my work was separate and in 1920x1080 uncompressed with alpha.

Jerry's answered it well enough, but for the record:

      1. We're not being super strict, since we know how old the DVStorm is. Talk to your reseller or nearest TGV Desktop sales office about what you can do. And if you haven't already done so - register the board!

      2. The v5 disc will be a fresh installer - you won't need to pull out all the old discs to install first.

      3. Imaginate still has a purpose. The Layout Tool does not replace it, but rather, it allows a few things to be done to video, that previously could not be done.

          I am missing out something..
Where does it state that a $$ break will be given to existing registered Storm owners when they buy it??
What kind of a break (how much $$)
Thanks but I cannot find this info which some people are referring to ...

In the US, it's $300 off the price - you just need to show proof you purchased the qualifying board.
