  • Generic OHCI Problem

    Hi all;

    I have a desktop with the Storm2SE card, but now I am also going to be working on an IBM ThinkPad T-60P, and it does not have an OHCI imput on it. My E-Drive is a Seagate 500GB external drive with 2 USB-2 imputs and an OHCI imput.

    My problem is that even though I set up Edius to use Drive E as the scratch disk, I cannot capture. Do I need to have an OHCI imput on my laptop (C drive)?

    Thanks,

    Andrew

    Your computer needs an OHCI adapter. Connecting through a USB via USB/Firewire HD is doing nothing more than creating a physical link (almost in the same sense that a link would be created if they were tied together with a piece of string). There is no essential connection as far as data is concerned.

    There are slot card OHCI adapters available.

      if you gonna capture to your notebook you will need a firewire card. Or if you just capture to your external hdd from your regular computer and then connect your external hdd to your laptop. Theres even the option to get a special hdd thats designed to record directly on to the hdd...

          The problemis that Edius is n=only seeing a USB connection and not a Firewire which it needs.

          You do need a OHCI on the Laptop.

          You could by a ohci card and plug in that way. :)
