  • Edius & Sorenson Squeeze

    Hi,

Can anyone please tell me if they use Edius with Sorenson Squeeze and if so, have they had any problems. I need to have the ability to make .FLV files from my time line and have been recommended Sorenson. Thanks for any help!

There is a thread here that points out one major problem. Using EDIUS 4.6 will flip many codecs upside down that you might want to use in Sorenson (and others like the Adobe Flash encoder).
Apparently with release V5 this will be solved.

    Here's the link

As Mark said, I do think this is solved in 5.0

Thanks for your responses! I guess the problem has still not been resolved.
So, what are Edius folks using to convert .AVI's to .FLV's?

        Cheers!

Flip your video before feeding it to Sorenson ?

Since most clips I need to make flv's for are no longer than 5-6 minutes I have just been saving back to an HDV (m2t) file and then feed it to Sorenson. Converts just nice since it is still dealing with a HD file. It may be a little slower to convert than with HQ files but I have multiple computers and just let it churn away while I do something else.

When something is wrong, either with Edius or other apps. you need to find a temporary solution, as work will not wait for the software engineers to fix it.

This issue (and others) have been around for some time now, with no solution in sight, I don't want to point fingers at anyone, but my / your clients are waiting !

Yes, I'm serious, maybe not a graceful solution, it sounds weird, it will look weird, but video, if flipped out of edius, flipped correctly back out of Sorenson give's you a good quality flv file, follow nikies advice and just do it !

I don't know how you can say "with no solution in sight", when I said I thought it was solved in 5.0?

I am sorry ... it WAS solved - for a while. Then it reverts back to upside down again :-(.
