  • Just now moving to Vista 64 bit - Questions

New to the forum. I'm about to upgrade my Edius Sp based system to Vista 64 bit. I recently updated to 4.6. Are their any more drivers that I will need to download for the SP card? Are their any bugs or known issues I should be aware of and are their any tips known when installing Vista to keep all of its crap from intalling? System - Dual Zeon 5160 3 GHz, 8GB DDR2 1066 Ram, 4TB Raid 3

There are currently no drivers for any EDIUS hardware configuration (NX, SP, SD, HD) for any version of Windows Vista, 32-bit or 64-bit. If you upgrade to Vista now, only the EDIUS software would work--and we can't really guarantee that since EDIUS isn't officially supported in Windows Vista at this time. If you would like to retain the full functionality of your EDIUS SP system, do not upgrade to Windows Vista at this time.

The following official annoucement lays out the Vista compatibility roll-out plans: http://ediusforum.grassvalley.com/fo...ead.php?t=5165

Just to highlight Chris's post, there will be support for Vista 64 in the Edius 5.0 release which is slated for later this year.

We've yet to get any confirmation either way, but at this stage, it's not looking likely.

Do you REALLY have reasons to move to 64 bit? Do you think it will give you any benefits? Think good before doing it.
Asus P8P67, Intel i7 2600K working at 4.50 Ghz, 16Gb Kingston RAM, Windows 7 64bit, 500Gb system drive, 320Gb Data drive and 1TB RAID-0 for AV, Edius NX Express, EVGA nVidia GTX 570 2.5CB DDR5, 750w ALTEC power and some creativity...

Once Edius is x64 bit ready there is no way you would stick with XP. Just being able to use 8Gb RAM and substantially reducing render times would be reason by itself. And the fact that you can almost double the number of streams of HD video in realtime would be another. You can't go there now.

Uh yes Vista x64 has many benefits.

For one, memory management. I have 10GB of RAM and Vista uses all of it. I can have 10 high memory programs running and it won't choke.

I'm never going back to 32bit.
