  • Hbx1000 bob 720 50p

    Hi -

I don't have a system handy to check this - can anybody confirm if Edius and the HBX1000 BOB can do a native edit of 720 50P and put it on the outs? Ie. 720 50P straight thru from file ingest P2 thru an Edius project to 720 50P on the SDI outputs of that box? I want NATIVE 720 50P thru the whole workflow.

I never heard of the Panasonic camera HBX1000 - so please clarify first.

To answer both of your questions:

The HDBX1000 is the massive breakout box for an EDIUS HD turnkey workstation--it's not a camera, and should not be confused with the Panasonic HVX product line.

I believe there is another post that confirms this, bit the 1280x720 50p resolution/framerate is not a supported output from the HDBX1000. I think it's this one...

Thanks Chris - Kenneally suggested firewire.

I can get panasonic 720 50P AVC Intra in at 960x720 via P2.
Our workflow is to monitor in full HD 25Psf, which looks great, but it would be nice to see all the frames without doing a 50% slow motion (which looks even better :))

I'm wondering if I can loop a firewire signal through a JVC HDV machine to get a component 720 50P signal for monitor (like NX does with firewire thru the Exp. card)

Is it possible to get realtime 720 50P on the OHCI firewire without streaming the Edius timeline?

Unfortunately no, because you don't get realtime HDV output... Nothing I'm aware of has on-the-fly HDV output, actually. Even if you did, it'd be a painful process though - you'd be waiting at least 1/2 second for each change to be reflected, probably closer to a second or more given HDV encoding and decoding delay.

The EDIUS hardware doesn't use HDV - it's direct analog or digital transfer to the output. Thus you're seeing the result of your editing without any added compression.
