Multi-cam audio

I place the video streams from each of my 3 cameras on VA tracks. Then I copy the audio to 3 A tracks, and add a 4th A track for my audio recorder (recorded off of house PA system) Then, unlike most above responses, I simply mute the audio on the VA tracks and use the multicam mode to do an ABC roll. Leaving the original audio on the VA tracks simplifies re-syncing should I come to a spot where a frame has been dropped. After completing the multicam edit, I edit the audio on the 4 A tracks.

Thats why I wonder why would one delete or unlink the audio from a clip....it is much easier to copy and paste to an audio track, and just mute the audio on the VA track....and like you said, in the event of something out of sync, just go to that portion on the clip, copy and paste the audio to an audio track, and it in sync....no need for adjusting and wasting time trying to resync

I work with two cams, sinc with lighter :) on begining of record, find where want to start (audio- begining of song) copy tracks and paste to audio section and add filter -3dB audio level, cam one -12 to L , cam two -12 to R...
And disable audio on VA tracks..

I always unlink audio and put it in the audio tracks during Multicam (making sure it's synced). It's just much easier to manage it that way.

I never understand y ppls would remove the audio from any tracks.....what I do is use the audio from both cameras, (VA tracks ), do my AB roll, then when I am finished, I would select the best audio, copy and paste to Audio track,and in the event I need audio from the other camera, I would copy and paste that to another audio track, from the point on the VA track that I want...When I am finished, I would turn off the audio on the VA tracks, and I am done.....but nowadays, I go back to the old way.....for 2 camera edits, I place the camera with the main audio on VA1, and the other camera on VA2, after syncing them, turn off the VA2 audio track, and cut and delete the unwanted video......'C' , 'N', and in no time, edits are finished...If I need audio from the VA2 track, just copy and paste.....

I always thought it would be cool to be able to switch audio tracks independantly like the video with like a F1-4 for audio vs 1-4 for video or something but maybe that would get too complex. Or maybe be able to use the mixer on the fly to pan left or right.

thats the way i prefer in most cases as well...
I delete the VA track as well and I'm using V tracks only...

I saw a multi-cam thread, I didnt want to hyjack but I had a question. I do weddings so I bring both cameras into the timeline then I copy the audio from one into the audio track and remove the audio from the original so I dont cut audio by mistake. Is that the best way to do it or is there a better way that im not seeing?
