  • Making FLASH H.264 for the web.

As the latest FLASH player now takes H.264 files I thought I would tinker abit with it.

I encoded out Canopus HQ 1440/1080 files and put it into the FREE Mediacoder encoder to make the CBR 1.5mbps H.264 files.

I did some tests with QT players encoding but I could get better results with Mediacoder and boy is it fast. If you are running a Quad it will max out all 4 cores when rendering the file. Encoding underwater stuff really tests out the codecs - encoders. Uptop stuff can be encoded at much lesser rates for good quality.

If you want a look you can go here and see some of the clips and you can watch then full screen but you need a good net connection for them to play reatime or you may have to let them buffer abit.

Beautiful footage Paul. And Mediacoder does seem to equal your quality quite well. Will try it, thanks a bunch.
Cheers - and have a great Sunday.

      Hello Alan
I found the best way is to encode out a Canopus HQ file then feed it to the encoder to make the H.264 one. Tinker with the settings as there are many to play with.

If you have it on just a average CBR setting it will render out a 1280/720 1.5mbps H.264 faster than realtime.
