Edius: problem with .avi files. Problem, problem, problem. help please!

Hi, some time ago I had a similar problem with Edius v.4.61. I have unistalled it and I have installed the previous Edius v.4.54. The problems had disappeared.
Now I am making an important project and with Edius I have many problems.
I'm sorry my bad english, I try to explain them.

I have two Removable SATA Hard Drives. They have Win XP Pro. I have configured RADEON X1950XT 256MB GDDR3 all the same. With first one I surf in Internet and with the secod one I make editing video with Edius.
The first HD work correctly, with the second HD (with Edius) I have many problems. Above all I have problems with .avi files I have made with Edius. When I do editing Edius is very very slow. When I open an .avi files with Window Media Player 11 I see problems about slow movements of the persons. I see trails on the movements (in the wake of another movement). I don't see fluidity.
If I open the same file with VLC Media Player program it is not able to open the file and I listen its music only. Therefore I have installed Codec Canopus HQ but the problem is the same.
If I use a .m2t files both Window Media Player 11 and VLC Media Player work fine (.m2t files are not a problem). My problem are .avi files only.
Could solve this problem?

The full version requires HASP drivers and the dongle to be present, while the decode-only version does not. The decode-only version should also never be installed on a system with Edius or Procoder.

I have installed Canopus Playback Codecs Pack (v3.03). It was Released: 09/14/2007 that I have downloaded from Canopus web site (General Utilities). I have installed it with dongle present. Is it right?

Yes I understand but I have installed the playback only codec because my Edius did work very bad, very slowly.
But I have just solved my problem with Edius. My problem is Catalyst settings. If I set Anti-Aliasing = 6 my Edius works very very slow but if I set Anti-Aliasing = 2 Edius works correctly. But it doesn't solve the problem of .avi files. They work bad. In your opinion could solve this problem?

No you don't understand. You must not install them. It is like putting diesel fuel in a gasoline engine.
Now you have created a mess on your pc.
If Edius worked slow the problem is elsewhere not with the codec.

It is better to uninstall everything and start from scratch.
Because if the system is a mess trouble shooting is Like miss cleo looking in to a crystal ball.

Actually, the results aren't too catastrophic if you do this (EDIUS actually qualifies as a supported product for decoding capability, if you read the readme)

It's just not recommended as it's often likely that the codecs within any particular (recent) build of EDIUS are newer. And that installing the codec pack causes duplicate codec entries within applications outside of EDIUS.

Yes but version mess if often the hardest to solve. It is know to cause problems for Edius. Which range from odd playback to strangeness in the footage. (as far as I know)

But you probably know best. :)

BTW the note on the website still says:

Important Note: Do not install this package on a system that already has EDIUS NLE software installed on it.
.(maybe that should change too hehe)
