  • Faster Edius?

in building a new system...what would make edius work/render effects (ex. ripple) faster?

are there any system settings to be aware of?

any input would be greatly appreciated...

    thanks in advance,

    dano

    Intel DG33 FB Mainboard
    2 GB DDR2 RAM (800 FSB)
    500 GB Seagate SATA H.D.D.

If you are basing your choice on the ripple effect within Xplode, that is a flawed line to follow. Xplode is history. Plain and simple. When the next version is released we will be using a different effects package. Now, if you do not expect to upgrade to the next version, that is a different story.

512mb is the magic number now. I know for sure Vitascene requires it for 1920x1080 project settings. So, for a 1440x1080 project it should cut through it like butter.

The GTS has a little added punch to it. It isn't realtime but for most 1 sec transitions I can get buffer prefill play through.

Wow, that's a nice card, but way overkill if you work with Edius alone.

The 1.5 Gb ram will last you a long time, until directX 11, or a new version of pixel shader will be released.

If you use any serious 3D software this would be a good choice, for Edius Alone NO.

p.s je geld is beter besteed aan processor kracht & video raid, daar heb je meer aan.

I bougth recently the Sapphirre Radeon HD4850 with 1 GB graphics RAM.
It works so far but has a Problem with Vitascene.I suspect Vitascene has a problem with the 1GB.

Don't think so, 1GB of ram shouldn't make a difference at all, I would contact ProDad support to find out more about the card.

Or check if there is an updated ATI driver -- 90+% of the time it's a driver problem.
