    Shooting 25P does take a bit more care, but I like to use it sometimes because it can add a certain mood or feel to the video.

    What I don't want to happen is for Edius to deinterlace the progressive clips (unnecessarily), as this degrades the picture. Ideally Edius would recognise the clips as progressive during capture, or if this is not possible due to the particular data format used by the camera, the next best thing would be for Edius to allow us to change the video properties for multiple clips in one shot.

    or use a dolly. That's why they are used often when shooting on film.

    I read the manual of a p type camera and it says to avoid jerky pans, pan really slow or increase the frame rate to 50fps

    I manually set a 25fp clip as progressive, but nothing changes after render and exported. Always jerky.

    thank you!.
    my question is concerning canon HV20 25pf format. I've done some shots, some condition with 25fp at 25,50 and 120 shutter speed, and the same with stantard 50I recording.
    Then put them on a time line and make a dvd with edius pro and dvd creator. 25FP always shows worst, expecially when panning there is a lot of flicker that is missing with 50i recording. I know that 25fp recording on HV20 has been already discussed on other thread, but is not clear to me how can I get a good results with this format. Probably I should not use it if I have to make a dvd!

    HDV is top field first, so it is correct

    Pal is 25 fps so it is correct

    50i is 25fps so it is correct (each frame has 2 fields, therefore 25x2 =50i)

    i = interlace = each frame has 2 fields

    I am new to edius pro.
    I have a canon HV20 and I try with 50i and 25pf.
    Then capture with edius.
    Whenever I capture, with mpeg ts 1080/50i, HQ1440x1080 25p or HQ1440x1080 50I then then clip always shwows "top field first" 25 frame/s .

    Why this happen?
Working...
