  • Cropping Problems

Using Edius v4, I'm having problems performing a simple crop on a shot, without the shot sliding into the centre of the screen or zooming up to full frame. I'm not able to remedy this using either 3D Picture in Picture or Layout F7.
Any help here would be gratefully received.
I've also found that re-positioning a shot in the x and y dimensions can't always be done with sufficient accuracy, as adjustments can only be done at integer values ie. not decimals. Is it possible to move a shot horizontally or vertically in smaller increments?
    Thanks

    Use Layout.
Crop the image on the left.
Reposition the image on the right.

Thanks for that. But my problems really start when I try to crop from more than one side at a time. Often, I'll want to crop from left, right, top and bottom. When doing this in Layout, I can't stop the shot from sliding somewhere other than where it started out!

you need to untick "preserve frame aspect"

Yeah, but whether I have the Preserve Aspect box ticked or not, if I crop some from the left edge and some from the right edge - the picture is still being realigned horizontally. That's what I'm really trying to avoid.

works fine here, I can crop from any edge or all edges and the movie never moves a pixel

              Thanks Anton.
Having a peculiar quirk in my system was seeming feasible.....BUT! - we have 2 independent versions of Edius, running on different computers. Both are version 4.6 and both display the same tendency for the picture to slide during cropping.
Maybe I'm missing something elementary - like being able to disable the link between the crop of the shot with its position, or a setting in the Project Settings dialogue.
I've used a number of NLE systems and have never come across a crop function that slides the shot.
              Confused
