Thanks folks. I am not in urgent need of the new system, so I will probably take your advice a wait a bit.

Couldn't agree more with Jerry. LAtely, I've been thinking the same thing about upgrading my system, so if it's true that Edius 5 comes 'LATER THIS YEAR', then I guess it wouldn't hurt to wait a little bit before spending all the money...

How about a video card - I am currently using a Radeon X1650 in dual-link DVI to a 30 " Gateway XHD 3000 (an incredible monitor, by the way), but I think I probably need a higher-end card for my next build. Is there any advantage to more than 2 GB DDR2 RAM ? Thanks in advance for any advice.
How soon are you in need of this new system? All of the details of of the next version of Edius have not been released. This meaning, I don't know if it will more than dual core capable. Also, we will have Vista support for 32 and 64 bit drivers (the program will still be 32bit but will operperate in the 64bit environment). This is where more ram will be able to be implemented (Vista)
All this leads to the fact that if you do not need to move to a new system right now, I would wait until the release of the next version before spending money for a system to operate with Edius.
