  • From HDV tape to short captured segments

I would like to capture a complete HDV tape from my XH-A1 and then select segments from that tape so that I can rchive the segments to a hard drive in ......their native format. That way I can use some of the segments as "stock footage" for future videos....B roll if you will. It is important that there will be no compression so I retain the original quality from the A1. What is the fastest, best way to do this?

Have you played with Batch Export yet?

Very effictive and fast enough... go make a sandwich and you're done!

Thanks Rusty I'll try that. However I just picked up a Firestore FS-C for my XH-A1. I think that's my quickest solution!

The fastest way to do it without re-rendering the original footage is to let Edius auto divide your scene's while capturing.

Normally 1 scene is not that long so if there is a bit of extra frames at beginning or end, just close one eye, as you can just copy the clips from your hard drive to your back-up drive (folder)
