different makes/models of laptop had widely varying PC Card performance. I'm not sure whether this is still the case with ExpressCard
The express card slots appear to be modular units that the manuf just add-on, the problem is the manuf don't have enough foresight to have to 2 express card slots on certain models, then you could run a eSATA raid and another device at the same time, I spoke with someone from HP and the attitude was "Duh!" "You only need one slot on a laptop for a TV Tuner"

We've actually tried some stuff in the past. The problem we encountered was that different makes/models of laptop had widely varying PC Card performance. I'm not sure whether this is still the case with ExpressCard, but if it is, I can see why Matrox started with Mac for MXO/MXO2. The Mac platform variance is far smaller, so it's far easier to test and qualify for, just not necessarily develop for.

    Time for an external solution!

I look in envy every time a new external (laptop compatible) solution for input and output arrives. I am very envious of the new Matrox MXO 2. I wonder with the expertise in external converter boxes why Edius doesn't have a current option?

I am about to get a new laptop and will have to get a Macbook Pro this would mean I could duel boot and have the option to run FCP with an external box, I would much prefer to stay entirely with edius though. An external solution could be the future for Edius and I'm sure bring new users aswell as retain the existing ones.
