  • Sound reduced in final print to file

    Hi guys,

Using Edius Pro to edit a VOB file I've imported. The original video says it's using channel 6 for sound. If I play it in Edius it sounds perfectly balanced. However, now I've added my titles and try to export the sound is much lower...whatever I do I can't get it right. I'm exporting to MPEG and it's converting it to Stereo...I think this is the problem.

If I raise the whole volume the ambient sound is unbearable. Any tips?
    Regards,
    Tony

Did you change the audio settings to 'EDIUS Pro 3 Compatible' before adding the VOB file?

Hi K. No I didn't I've just changed Panning to Pro 3 Compatible is that what you mean? And is it OK to do it now with all the video in place and just re export?

I believe it will only take affect on new clips added to the timeline from that point onward - it won't retroactively apply to existing clips (which makes sense, because you don't want to mess with anything that might be finished on the timeline).

Editing multi-channel audio embedded within a file is tricky business. You also need to remember that those 6 channels will be downmixed into a stereo audio track upon export. Just fyi..

Ack. OK. Probably will leave it that's a lot of working starting from scratch. Any chance of 5.1 support in an up coming update?

Unknown at this stage. Typically the trend is to do audio sweetening and mixing in an application dedicated to such a task (EDIUS is first and foremost a video editor).
