  • Problem converting large MTS files with AVCHD2HQ

    Hi all,

I receive 'DirectShow Graph Error' trying to convert a large (2 GB) MTS file to Canopus HQ.
    Smaller files convert Ok.
The large file can be previewed Ok with the AVCHDPRV.

    Anyone else with this issue?
    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance,

    Kiril.

Are you using V2.10 of the converter? How much disk space is available, and have you tried running CHKDSK?

      Yes. 1.3 Tb. Yes. :)

What I noticed is that the resulting file (what was generated until the failure) is ~ 4Gb big. Could be 32 bit limitation?

I convert AVCHD files over two gig with no problem.

Are your Hard Drives formatted to NTFS?

Yes, I have a 7Gb file on it. It is not disk related. I tried to create the file also on the system disk - NTFS, 60 GB free - same result.

Canopus HQ AVIs will almost always be larger than their source files after a transcode from an MPEG source--HQ is an intraframe codec (every frame is compressed), which differs greatly in size from the various long GOP interframe compression (group of pictures; reference frames and subsequent frames) in regards to methods used for MPEG. The trade-off is that it requires less CPU horsepower but greater storage (HDD) bandwidth to edit.

              Thanks.

I don't mind that the file is big, but I do expect it to be properly created.
In my case I get an error...

You say that DVD's created when played back on the PC have this problem but playback OK on a DVD player, I'd suspect a Graphics driver problem.
Also do you have CODECS from applications like Nero on your PC?, I've had problems with other applications CODECS and the Edius CODECS in the past.
