Anubody using the DJ design elements in Edius? If so are you rendering with juicer? Would you post your settings especially with the Golbal intentions set. My computer is taking an enormas amount of time rendering QT files with alpha.

I use them all the time. Stay away from QT. The main settings you need to worry about is the output. Go to the Format and change it to AVI. Once you get the settings like yu want, save it as a preset and then slelect it everytime.

Ronnie, here is a screen shot that should give you a better idea on the juicer 3.




Starting off at the top:
The canvas size is the project size. I use 1920x1080 all of the time now.
It makes it eaiser for the second part of the pixel aspect which is 1 or square pixel.
All of this is users choice.
All of the audio is up to you.
The layer transformation is auto fit to canvas. This is the item in relation to the placement and size in the canvas.

Now here we are at the most important part, the output.
I usually choose progressive(I know I have a 29.97 frame rate-doesn't seem to matter) .
Choose AVI and pick the little wrench icon to open up the format panel.
This is where you choose the codec. If you are having problems with QT, choose Canopus HQ since you are using Edius, and click OK. You can also use uncompressed and import it into Edius. It will take a little more drive horsepower to use this setting.
The alpha type is straight. This embeds the alpha into the video. Above the field order you will see render alpha separtately, do not check this. You can get it to work, but it comes to the issue of alpha matte and a lot of extra steps.
Now choose where you want the rendered file to go and have at it. Once the file is rendered you can throw it into a project and the item will be present. You can then change the position or size with the layout tool or if you want movement use the 3D pip keyer.

I actually rendered out this project and threw into an existing Edius project. It was a green screen shoot that I am currently editing. I put the green screen on top, the alpha motion just below and the background below that. It all played in RT in a 1920x1080 preset.

Also Ronnie the AVI takes care of the no audio that sometimes happened with Quicktime. Also check out my question below to Jerry.

Jerry, if you have several clips in the Juicer bin, can you set these settings once and they apply to all fo the clips? I am having to select each clip and apply these settings. If not it will apply my settings to the selected clip and then use the QT default on the others.

I think that Juicer 3 will do batch. But, it may be restricted to QT output. I have not tried this because I usually
just do 1 or 2 outputs at a time. When I do 2, I have set it each time for HQ.
I'll have to look at it the next time I use it.
I just looked at the manual and yes, you are supposed to be able to set it up to do batch with the same settings for each file as well as being able to add files to the batch before transcode.

Thanks Guys: I had some downtime for a few days and thought I would render the DJ to an external HD like I ususlly do and then save time when needing them in a project.

Now I am busy with another project and will just render what I need.

I appreciate all the help I get on the forum ... You Guys are awesome.

Jerry, that is the version that I have. I just talked to DJ a couple of days ago and they said 3.2 is coming out shortly. However, I have not been able to create the settings on one and then have it apply to all in the bin without doing it individually. I kept looking for an "apply to all" like they have for the saving location, but have not been able to find it. I am sure I am missing a setting somewhere, but no luck so far.

I am doing a complete reinstall tonight on the big system. I'm at the 11 month on this setup and it needs to be cleaned out.
After I get all of the stuff in as well as all of the catalogs for DJ( Still can't get that to transfer) I will try to see if I can make it work on batch.
If not, I will contact Heuber and get it straight from the horses mouth.
