  • I made the move to Edius

After MANY years of editing with Adobe Premiere on Canopus Storm Systems I took the plunge and moved to Edius. Thanks to those who gave their opinions which really helped me make my final decision. The first part of the migration is a Pentium Core 2 Quad, 2.66GHz, 1066MHz laptop with the latest Edius, ProCoder, and Encore Broadcast software. Other desktop (work stations) will follow. Now the fun part. Learning a new workflow and editing system. I would say a good 90% of my Videographer friends, who have switched platforms in the last few years, have moved to Macs. I spent a long time trying to like the Mac, and in many ways I do. But when one of my Premiere 6.5 systems from 2001 is faster than a brand new Mac it made the decision much easier. I look forward to contributing here once I figure out what I'm doing, lol. Until then I may need a little more help.

Welcome aboard! I have a Mac Book Pro with the full Final Cut Studio 2 on it and also Media Composer and each do some things better then the other. But 95% of my editing gets done with Edius.

You've come to the right place. You'll find current and past users of many other NLEs here who can certainly relate to your situation, and they're really smart and know a lot about EDIUS.

There are also some employee-types that lurk here and chime in when we can. Just remember that tho the forum is quite a useful knowledge base, don't forget to contact tech support directly when you need help--they're there for that reason and are not found through this forum.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm happy to hear you use Edius most of the time. It was a tough decision.

          Hi Chris,

Before I began posting I read the forums for a while so I understand there is an actual tech support. I have received a lot of great advice which I do appreciate. I will certainly be happy to reciprocate once I have a better understanding of Edius itself. Thanks.
