Image Filter "Scrunch"

Ok... what am I seeing.

It's been a while since I've done anything 4:3 SD i, but this has me wondering.

When I apply a basic filter (WB, CB, Color Wheel, etc.) the image appears to Scrunch, mostly from the bottom up, leaving the center pretty soft and mushy. I can see the problem clearly when I toggle the Effect tickbox.

Change the Project Settings from interlaced to progressive and the problem goes away! :~/

Is that during preview or also on rendered/exported footage?

I guess preview, but NX has the same skwishieness.
More difficult to see the side-by-side difference with rendered footage.
Easy to spot by toggling the effect on NX and PC overlay.

How's the live output from the NX to a monitor - does it get squished as well?

Yes NX and overlay both squish.
Like the pixels in the bottom 1/3 get taller while the middle 1/3 get shorter.
