    You mean I'm not 18?
I did putz with defrag when I ran Win2000 and RexEdit. (does that help)

When I feel the need, I just format my RAID and re-load projects.
    Otherwise I load-em, edit and get-em off!

You can read all the white papers on defragmentation while you wait for 600GB to get done. (whoops, my project is done!) :~)

Hey Rusty, that sounds like a pensioner saying he feels 18 years old. :-)
Of course he does - he just can't remember.
You should try defragging - most professional studios do it as a matter of routine and there are reams of paper on the benefits even from the very top of the IT world.

Every file that is captured to a hard disk is fragmented. Some more than others depending on the software. That's why the O/S comes with a defragmentation tool. The type of format, FAT32, NTFS etc bear different results.
